This guy has an ego the size of Obama’s.
San Diego (CNN) — New parks. High-tech jobs. Better roads and a bid for the 2024 Olympics.
Embattled San Diego Mayor Bob Filner says voters should weigh all those issues against the mounting allegations that he groped and harassed women before they decide whether they want to run him out of office.
“Now is not the time to go backwards — back to the time when middle-class jobs and neighborhood infrastructure were sacrificed to downtown special interests,” Filner said in a written response to a proposed recall petition. “We need to continue to move forward!”
The 70-year-old Filner was elected mayor of the eighth-largest American city in 2012, after 10 terms in Congress. But since July, he’s faced a string of accusations that he engaged in inappropriate behavior and made lewd comments to a variety of women, some of whom have taken him to court. His accusers range from a singer at a campaign fund-raiser to his former communications director, who called him unfit for office.
