As John Bolton said on Fox News earlier today, Gaddafi was on the ropes over a week ago and if Obama had actually acted with a great sense of urgency he wouldn’t now be on the verge of wiping out the rebels’ last stronghold and returning to state-sponsored terrorism.
(RCP) — White House press secretary Jay Carney: “We are acting with a great sense of urgency, together with our international partners to take the kinds of actions that we believe will protect Libyan citizens and, you know, move towards a situation where Gaddafi is no longer in power — which is what we believe the Libyan people want. Again, I would refer you to the fact that the actions that we, the international community with the leadership of the United States have taken — are unprecedented in their speed and their sweep ask their scope and the actions that the United Nations may take as it emerges — when the Security Council emerges from its negotiations will again be unprecedented in the speed and scope.”
