Yes, really.

Despite the chuckles some might have at the idea of Reverend Al Sharpton giving someone advice about how to be taken seriously, while appearing on Morning Joe, Sharpton was humorous and even insightful with some of the wisdom he gave to Sarah Palin. The panel reacted to a new poll showing Palin’s favorability significantly dropping, which prompted Sharpton to recommend that there may be a path back for Palin.

Sharpton suggested, “the challenge is, if she’s going to be serious, she has to do what many of us did, expand that into policy.” Although Palin hasn’t advanced detailed policy proposals, Sharpton thinks Palin should actively advocate for an issue, like he is doing now with education reform. Given that some have recently called Palin “the Al Sharpton of the Republican party,” Sharpton admitted such a comparison probably is not “a compliment to her or me.” Although Sharpton pointed out that one difference between them was that he had to raise grievances because he was always an outsider, but at least until recently, Palin was an insider.
