The Egyptian Army held a presser to explain their perspective of the shooting at the Republican Guard Headquarters earlier today. They stated they were stormed by pro-Morsi supporters with all kinds of weapons, who were intent upon freeing Morsi. The pro-Morsi supporters claim they were peacefully demonstrating and praying when they were fired upon by the Army.

The Army showed the above video of Safwat Hegazy threatening some sort of action to free Morsi as further evidence that there had been a planned action, not just a peaceful demonstration.

Safwat Hegazy is an Egyptian television cleric who has been banned in the UK for “stirring up hatred”. He has previously claimed “Jerusalem belongs to us, the whole world belongs to us”.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest for incitement.

Various weapons allegedly taken from the pro-Morsi supporters at the Republican Guard Headquarters were also displayed on Egyptian T.V. They included knives, homemade shotguns and pistols, and some kind or tear-gas or homemade explosive.
