QUETTA – An alleged suicide bomber and a passer-by were killed while another civilian sustained injuries in a blast in Kuchlak area, some 20 kilometres away from here on Thursday. A man was killed in a landmine blast in Subatpur district.

According to police, an alleged suicide bomber was standing at Killi Katir Cross near a mosque when his explosive vest went off. Resultantly, a civilian identified as Lal Khan was killed on the spot while the body parts of the suicide bomber scattered in the area. Another person identified as Gul Ameen also sustained injuries. Police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and shifted the injured to hospital. “The blast partially damaged the mosque and created a crater at the site,” sources said.

Kuchlak Superintendent Police Sadar Muhammad Notazai confirmed it was a suicide blast as the bomber’s explosive vest exploded prematurely. Bomb Disposal Squad officials said that 7 to 8 kg explosives were used in the blast.
