President Barack Obama congratulated the plaintiffs in the Proposition 8 case by phone from aboard Air Force One on Wednesday morning.

“We’re proud of you guys, and we’re proud to have this in California,” Obama said in choppy audio that aired live on MSNBC as the plaintiffs spoke to the president. “And it’s because of your leadership things are heading the right way. So you should be very proud today.”
