I know if my wife and I don’t work our kids won’t eat, then again, we aren’t moochers on the dole.
(CNSNews.com) – During a speech earlier this month Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) said that GOP House leaders are pushing public policy “demanding that you work else your children can’t eat.”
Moore made the comments at the National Partnership for Women and Families luncheon on June 14 in Washington.
“These are some interesting days in the House of Representatives. We have a leadership that’s really out of touch with most of the country,” Moore said.
“They indict women who don’t work, they call them ‘welfare queens’ and there is all kinds of public policy demanding that you work before you get food stamps,” Moore continued, “Demanding that you work else your children can’t eat. But they don’t know what it’s like to support a family when your paid minimum wage and what it’s like to be unable to pay the rent.”
