. . . “Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here all the time,” Dyson said, imagining Rice’s disposition today. “Not only does she get to be close to the president,” he said, comparing her to Condoleezza Rice, “but now she has a kind of supervisory role that allows her to craft and shape the very conception of foreign policy at its origin.” Dyson said he viewed this role as somehow more influential than the secretary of state position from which she was forced to withdraw late last year.
“Given that she’s one of the most brilliant minds alive, this plays to her strengths in such a powerful way,” he continued. “And it is a kind of comeuppance” for Republicans. “Now this woman is able to display to the nation her extraordinary capacities, her gifts.” He added that the fact she has “been chastened” will only allow her to become a more “powerful” figure in the administration.
