DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse:
The New York Times is refusing to attend Holder’s off-the-record meeting.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to hold an off-the-record meeting with the Washington bureau chiefs of major news outlets this week to discuss Department of Justice policy guiding investigations that involve journalists, but New York Times Editor Jill Abramson said Wednesday that the paper of record would not be participating.
“We will not be attending the session at DOJ,” Abramson said in a statement obtained by the Huffington Post. “It isn’t appropriate for us to attend an off the record meeting with the attorney general. Our Washington bureau is aggressively covering the department’s handling of leak investigations at this time.”
At this point, it is unclear if other news organization will follow suit.
