IRS on conf call saying no disciplinary action against employees who targeted tea party groups for extra scrutiny.

Despite claims that the action was “initiated by low level workers in Cinicinnati” (implying that it was a local restricted issue), reports from the complainants show that the issue was a nation-wide problem applied to anyone who had “Tea Party” or “patriot” in their name, and the nationwide IRS review of such exemption claims was being run out of Cincinnati as a centralization point.
On the other hand, such groups as Media Matters and other “progressive” organizations were not subject to the same scrutiny.
