A senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says a Western, Arab and Zionist front has instigated and is fueling the crisis in Syria to prevent the spread of the Islamic Awakening.

Brigadier General Yadollah Javani said on Wednesday that the trilateral front assumed that it could use the current developments in the region to undermine Syria, but the Arab country has been resisting the Zionist regime of Israel for several decades.

“Today, two years after the outbreak of the crisis in Syria, it has come to light that the Syrian government and people are capable of protecting their existence against [all kinds of] foreign plots,” the senior commander stated.

Western powers and their regional allies including Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have teamed up in supporting anti-Syria militant groups, including al-Qaeda-linked terrorists, to destabilize Syria and overthrow the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
