JALALABAD, Afghanistan – Afghan security forces April 25 killed six militants in a pre-dawn battle in Hesarak District, Nangarhar Province, media reported April 25.

The shootout in Hesarak erupted when the Taliban attacked the district headquarters building and nearby villages, Pajhwok Afghan News reported, quoting police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal. No soldiers were injured or killed, he said.

Meanwhile, four insurgents were killed while they were trying to plant roadside bombs alongside a highway in Laghman Province April 23, media reported. The bombs exploded prematurely.
