What a shame.

A new poll from AP/GfK shows President Obama has hit his lowest approval rating since taking office and support for his handling of the economy has slipped.

Some 52 percent disapprove of his economic stewardship, up from 48 percent last September, while approval has ticked down to 46 percent from 48 percent, the poll found. Among independents, disapproval jumped 10 points to 57 percent.

His overall job approval stands at 50 percent with 47 percent disapproving. Disapproval among independents is slightly higher, at 49 percent.

Like other polls, the AP/GfK survey released Thursday shows Obama’s post-election popularity bump has now dissipated, while Americans continue to grapple with a sluggish economic recovery and many are not as hopeful about the future of the country.
