Two of Iran’s top defense officials on Thursday launched a coordinated rhetorical attack against Israel, saying it couldn’t carry out a successful military attack against the Islamic republic and restating their own ability to “raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground.”
“The constant threats by the Zionist regime against Iran are worthless, and they cannot do anything against our nation because they know that any measure will lead them to full annihilation,” Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi told PressTV during Tehran’s Army Day celebrations.
While Israeli leaders threaten Iran, they won’t take military action against it or its nuclear program, Vahidi stated, because “they know that if they do a damn thing, the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground.”
Similar statements were made by Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi. If the Israelis try “to commit a folly and implement their threat against Iran, we will not hesitate” to respond, he said. Iran doesn’t need any help defending itself against the Zionist regime, he said.
During Israel’s Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and IDF Chief of General Staff Benny Gantz said Israel could defend itself against any threat, and — if it needed to — would also act against Tehran’s nuclear program
