The Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Dr Muhammad Badie, received Mr James Watt, British Ambassador in Cairo, in his office yesterday.

At the beginning of the meeting, the British ambassador expressed his pleasure of meeting the Supreme Guide for the third time, and condemned the campaign of attacks against the headquarters of political parties and civil associations.

He added that this meeting was one of a series with the various political parties and popular forces to have a better understanding of the current crisis in Egypt. Ambassador Watt emphasised the need for all parties to engage in dialogue and avoid violence.

On his part, the Supreme Guide thanked the ambassador for his visit and praised his condemnation of all forms of violence. He also emphasised that the Muslim Brotherhood denounces violence, and will not respond to the opposition’s violence with the same; instead, they will respond to criminality with the law.

The same Supreme Guide who recently declared it’s time to wage “holy jihad” against the Jews, “raise the banner of jihad for the sake of God.”

Egypt’s foremost Muslim Brotherhood official called on the Arab world Thursday to replace negotiations with Israel with “holy Jihad,” claiming that if Jews are allowed to pray on the Temple Mount they will destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and supplant it with the third temple. […]

“The time has come for the Islamic nation to unite around one man for the sake of Jerusalem and Palestine,” Badie said. “The Jews have dominated the land, spread corruption on earth, spilled the blood of believers and in their actions profaned holy places, including their own.”

“Zionists only understand the language of force and will not relent without duress,” Badie continued. “This will only happen through holy Jihad, high sacrifices and all forms of resistance. The day they realize we will march this path and raise the banner of Jihad for the sake of God, is the day they will relent and stop their tyranny.”
