I’m sure Obama is happy now that he forced Israel to grovel to Islamist-run Turkey.
Via Times of Israel:
Turkey insisted on Israel’s use of the word “apology” and other conditions to move forward on the normalization of ties with Israel, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told fellow party members on Tuesday.
“We constantly gave them three conditions,” Erdogan said. “An apology. They wanted to express sorrow, but we said no. We wanted the word apology,” according to the Turkish Hurriyet daily.
According to the Turkish prime minister, Israeli officials were willing to pay compensation to the families of nine Turkish nationals killed on the Mavi Marmara, but they were reluctant to fulfill two other conditions: a formal apology and the full lifting of the blockade on Gaza.
Erdogan said he rejected a recent Israeli proposal on the grounds that it was “unacceptable.”
“Another text came to us ahead of President Barack Obama’s Middle East visit,” Erdogan said. “There were things there that were unacceptable, so we turned it down.”
