I’d say a sizable chunk of those supporting it are libs who used to rail against Bush’s anti-terror policies.
Via The Hill:
A majority of Americans oppose launching armed drone attacks against suspected terrorists who are U.S. citizens either domestically or abroad, according to a new poll.
A Gallup survey released on Monday found that while respondents back targeting foreign nationals suspected of terrorism abroad, there is opposition to such moves if the suspects are American citizens.
Sixty-five percent believe the U.S. should launch airstrikes against terror suspects abroad, with 28 opposing such moves. But that support drops to 41 percent fi the suspect is a U.S. citizen, with 52 percent opposing such a strike.
A strong majority oppose launching airstrikes domestically by 66 to 25 percent. Even more oppose such strikes against U.S. citizens on home soil, by a 79 to 13 split.
The poll’s findings come as lawmakers are seeking more information on the administration’s drone program.
