One of President Barack Obama’s top Jewish supporters and a prominent defender of the president’s Israel and Iran policies wrote on October 29 that Obama’s defeat could doom the U.S.-Israel alliance, and potentially the Jewish State itself.
Atlantic magazine blogger Jeffrey Goldberg says he can “almost guarantee” that a Romney presidency would cause liberals to withdraw support for Israel and for stopping the Iranian nuclear program.
“If Romney wins, and if Benjamin Netanyahu stays in power in Israel, I can almost guarantee you that you will see a melting away of whatever Democratic support there is for tough action against Iran, and a melting away of whatever liberal support there still remains for a strong America-Israel relationship,” Goldberg wrote.
That withdrawal of support, which according to Goldberg only exists because of Obama, could eventually spell the end of Israel.
