President Barack Obama says his friendship with hip-hop royals Jay-Z and Beyonce is nothing out of the ordinary.

“They’re good people,” Obama told Colby Colb of Cleveland Z107.9. “…Obviously they’re unbelievably successful, but they really are down-to-earth folks. And we talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.”

That includes offering first-time dad Jay-Z parenting advice, POTUS said: “They just had a new baby. …I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out and not leaving it all to mom and the mother-in-law.”

Obama befriended the stars when “they were supporters back in ’08,” he explained. “Beyonce sang at our inauguration and Jay-Z did a bunch of get out the vote concerts….We’ve had them down to the White House.”
