Total lie.

Not only did U.S. diplomats specifically request more security for the consulate in Benghazi, but they did it multiple times and each one was rejected by the Obama administration.

Via Politico (10/2/2012):

Prior to the deadly September 11th terrorist attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, the diplomatic outpost was attacked on at least two occasions according to a new House Oversight committee letter — and had requested additional security resources from Washington in vain. […]

The House letter also says that multiple U.S. federal government officials confirmed they made repeated requests for better security in Benghazi, but their requests were denied by officials in Washington.

The House letter to Clinton was first reported by the Daily Beast’s Eli Lake — who has previously reported that intelligence officials suspected a terrorist connection in the attacks since the beginning.

The Benghazi attacks have emerged as a major point of criticism against the Obama administration, which initially sought to blame the attacks on an anti-Islamic film circulating in the region.
