He was talking about the administration, the same administration that denied the request. FAIL.
Josh Rogin reports at The Cable that President Obama and Vice President Biden were never personally made aware of requests for additional security at the Benghazi consulate and the Tripoli embassy in Libya:
“The Cable asked Deputy National Security Advisor for Communications Ben Rhodes whether Biden was speaking for the entire Obama administration, including the State Department, which acknowledged receiving multiple requests for more Libya security in the months before the attacks. Rhodes said that Biden speaks only for himself and the president and neither of them knew about the requests at the time.”
Biden was fact-checked by a number of organizations who took issue with his characterization in Wednesday debate that he had not heard requests from the Libyan missions for extra security.
“We weren’t told they wanted more security there. We did not know they wanted more security again,” Biden said in Wednesday’s encounter with Paul Ryan.
The truthfulness of that statements depends on what Biden meant when he said “we” — State Department officials admitted in recent congressional hearings that requests were received from the Libyan missions for additional security resources in advance of the attack that killed four Americans.
