Tough to argue with that statement after yesterday’s bloody rampage.
Via Daily Mail:
The filmmaker who produced the ‘blasphemous’ internet film which accused Mohammed of being a fraud, paedophile and womaniser has gone into hiding.
Writer and director Sam Bacile, a California real estate developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew, declared yesterday, ‘Islam is a cancer.’
The two-hour movie cost $5 million (£3.3million) to make and was financed with the help of more than 100 Jewish donors, said Bacile, who believes the film will help his native land by exposing Islam’s flaws to the world.
A 13-minute trailer for the film, which is understood to be called either The Innocence of Muslims or Mohammed, Prophet of the Muslims, was first uploaded to YouTube in July, but did not receive much attention.
But last week, a version was dubbed into Arabic and re-posted on the same YouTube channel.
It has since featured on Egyptian media reports for several days with ultraconservative clerics going on air to denounce it.
It showcases an amateur cast performing a wooden dialogue of insults disguised as revelations about Muhammad, whose obedient followers are presented as a cadre of goons.
In an original English version and another dubbed into Egyptian Arabic, Muhammad is depicted as a fraud, a womanizer and a madman in an overtly ridiculing way, showing him having sex and calling for massacres.
Speaking by phone from an undisclosed location, the 56-year-old remained defiant, saying he intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.
‘This is a political movie,’ said Bacile.
‘The U.S. lost a lot of money and a lot of people in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we’re fighting with ideas.’
‘Islam is a cancer, period,’ he said repeatedly, his solemn voice thickly accented.
The film depicts Muhammad as a feckless philanderer who approved of child sexual abuse, among other overtly insulting claims that have caused outrage.
Morris Sadek, an Egyptian-born Christian in the U.S. known for his anti-Islam views said that he was promoting the video on his website and on certain TV stations, which he did not identify.
