Many of us do as well, although for vastly different reasons.

NORFOLK, Va. – President Obama gets “all misty” watching his wife give big speeches like the one she’ll deliver at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night, he told a crowd here.

On the last stop on his pre-convention base-juicing tour here, Obama said he’s heading back to the White House in order to watch the first lady’s address the DNC in Charlotte, N.C.

“Now I know that whatever I say here today is going to be at best a distant second to the speech you will hear tonight from the star of the Obama family, Michelle Obama,” he told a crowd at Norfolk State University’s Madison Hall Quad.

Of the convention, he said: “This is just like a relay and you start off with the fastest person. So I’m going to be at home and I’m going to be watching it with our girls. And I am going to try not to let them see their daddy cry because when Michelle starts talking, I start getting all misty. But I’m looking forward to being in Charlotte myself, I’ll go down there tomorrow.”
