 Herndon man pleaded not guilty on Friday at the U.S. District Court after allegedly shooting a security guard in the arm at the D.C. headquarters of the Family Research Council.
Floyd Lee Corkins II, has been in custody since his arrest on August 15, and has been charged with the federal offense of interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition, along with the District of Columbia offenses of assault with intent to kill while armed, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Corkins, participated in a psychological exam, which found him competent to stand trial. The 28-year-old will remain in jail until he’s expected back in court within 45 days. The trial date is set for October 1 with U.S. District Judge Richard Roberts, but it’s a control date and subject to change.
