DANVILLE, Va. — Biden’s visit to Danville is getting recognition for all the wrong reasons- because of something he said in his speech.

This was his statement:

“Romney wants to let the – he said in the first 100 days he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules. Unchain wall street. They’re going to put y’all back in chains,” Biden said.

Those comments triggered reaction from the Romney campaign who asked Biden and the Obama campaign to take the statement back.

This story also went viral around the world and graced the front page of many newspapers including some in our area.

The Danville pastor who gave the invocation before the speech said Biden’s words were taken out of context.

“He was giving the African American community and the poor people a warning that if we’re not careful and do no vote properly what could happen. That these chains could be placed back on us that President Obama had lifted off us by the bailouts and saving GM,” said Rev. William Avon Keen.
