Oddly, I don’t recall any maps of Kenya being shown when talking about Barack Obama.

CNN mistakenly aired a map of India’s Punjab province today after mentioning that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley had been confirmed to speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

Gov. Haley’s parents are both from Punjab and raised Haley as a Sikh. But it is unclear whether CNN accidentally showed the graphic because of her family’s religion or because of the shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on Sunday.

“It was a mistake,” a CNN spokesperson told POLITICO.

In a statement about the shooting posted on Facebook, Gov. Haley said, “It’s very sad to see something like this happen to a peaceful place of worship. Our prayers and condolences go out to the families of the innocent victims and the family of the heroic officer in this senseless tragedy.”
