For the third time this month and the fifth time overall, the Obama administration has override the decision of a state to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
Less than a week after a young black woman died from a legal abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Chicago, Illinois, the Obama administration has gone against the decision by the North Carolina legislature to withdraw taxpayer funds from the abortion giant. The Obama administration usurped the will of the North Carolina legislature by awarding $426,000 in federal grants directly to Planned Parenthood affiliates in the state.
On July 3, the state legislature passed a budget adjustment bill redirecting $343,000 in family planning funding from Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business, to county health departments that provide comprehensive care. The decision to go against that is drawing strong condemnation from the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life women’s group.
“Yesterday President Obama said he supports Planned Parenthood because he wants his two daughters to be able to ‘control their own health care choices.’ This morning we find that he once again is using euphemisms like ‘choice’ and ‘control’ to trample the rights of states and force pro-life taxpayers to fund the abortion business,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “President Obama’s decision to overrule the North Carolina legislature today marks the third time this month – and the fifth time in the last year – that he has stepped in to contract directly with the nation’s largest abortion provider.”
