C’mon Jay, you’re paid to lie. Now lie dammit!

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and the Democratic National Committee conceded — in the face of repeated questions — that the 2009 stimulus sent money to foreign companies and created jobs overseas, but Carney said that the bill as a whole helped build “a 21st century economy” that will allow the United States to compete with those countries in the future.

“Recovery Act dollars helped create jobs for Americans here in the United States,” Carney told reporters today. He said that it is good thing to “have foreign companies that are creating jobs in the United States” and argued that “the fact that, in one case, South Koreans were a part of that” does not undermine “the broader truth” that the 2009 stimulus helped the United States economy.

When a reporter suggested that Carney’s position on the stimulus — that it created jobs overseas, but those projects supported American jobs — undermined the attacks on the free trade practices at Bain Capital, Carney refused to address that “campaign related” question.
