The rule has always been to leave your kids out of it, Obama apparently doesn’t think much of that rule.

(USA Today) — The Obama campaign is marking Father’s Day with a new web ad that highlights President Obama’s relationship with his two young daughters.

The ad, which is narrated by first lady Michelle Obama, includes a montage of photos of and video of Obama with Malia and Sasha over the years. In the video, the first lady offers Father’s Day wishes to all dads and pays tribute to her husband, who she says has managed to remain immersed in their children’s lives despite the demands of his job.

In his biography and remarks over the years, Obama has repeatedly noted the absence of his father in his own life and the premium he’s put on his relationship with his two daughters.

“They know their dad is president of the United States, but when it all comes down to it, he’s there for them,” Michelle Obama says. “I don’t think he’s missed a parent-teacher conference in their entire lives. He’s at everything he possibly can [be] — every concert, every game that he can make. He knows it is important for girls to have the love and support of the most important man in their life and that’s their father.”
