(Politico) — Sen. John McCain on Sunday characterized the uprising in Egypt as a sharp defeat for al-Qaeda.

“This revolution is a direct repudiation of al-Qaeda,” the Arizona Republican said on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” “who believe that the only way you bring about change is through violence.”
