President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama attended two fundraisers in New York City last night, one with actress Sarah Jessica Parker and the other with singer Mariah Cary.
During his speech at Parker’s Manhattan townhouse, Obama praised his wife for “the grace and the strength and the poise and the warmth that she has brought to an extraordinarily difficult task as First Lady.”
“I’m very pleased she’s here,” he added, speaking to the guests who paid $40,000 each to attend. “And this is sort of our date night.”
At the second fundraiser, a concert with Maria Carey, Obama joked that, “this is what qualifies as date night in the Obama household.”
