Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security is trying to nip terrorism in the bud by sending would-be suicide bombers to a kind of spiritual rehab.

Young men arrested for attempting to carry out a bombing are brought to a high security detention facility in Kabul, where they spend their time dedicated to prayer and study of the Koran, according to Reuters.

Detainees ponder the Koran’s teachings in sessions with clerics as well as in private study.

Their daily activities include exercise and helping to prepare food for the other prisoners, the news wire service reported.

NDS agents also try to educate detainees about the dark side of the Taliban.

“We work with them psychologically, we show them movies and films of atrocities of the Taliban and we also take them to mosques to see thousands of worshippers,” Chief NDS spokesman Lutfullah Mashal told Reuters.
