The slaughter continues.

Jos, Nigeria (CNN) — At least five people were killed in an explosion that leveled a church in Jos, Nigeria, during services Sunday.

Witnesses said a suicide bomber drove a car into the church, where parishioners were gathered.

An angry crowd was outside the Christ Chosen Church of God, now reduced to rubble.

There appeared to be a large number of casualties, including children.

A March car bomb attack outside a Catholic church in Jos killed six people, according to officials.

A suicide bomber has blown himself up outside a church in the Plateau state capital, Jos. The attack hit the Lord’s Chosen Church, Rukuba Road, Jos.

There was no immediate word on casualties and no claim of responsibility. Attacking churches has become a trademark tactic of Islamist sect Boko Haram.

Meanwhile in Biu in Borno state, gunmen opened fire on a church, spraying the congregation with bullets and killing and wounding many of them, witnesses said.

“Three gunmen came to the premises of the church and started firing at people outside the church before going into the main building to carry on their killings. . . Many people have been killed and wounded,” said a witness, Hamidu Wakawa, who was at the church.
