“I’m very sorry about what happened,” former President Bill Clinton, a surrogate for President Obama, said about his previous support of tax cuts across the board, even for the wealthy. Clinton’s position at the time was at severe odds with Obama’s approach to the issue.

“I thought something had to be done on the ‘fiscal cliff’ before the election. Apparently nothing has to be done until the first of the year,” Clinton added.
