(CNS News) — Billionaire investor Warren Buffett distanced himself from being called a liberal on Tuesday, telling an audience that he was “not a card-carrying Democrat,” and also said that having a tax — the “Buffett Rule” — named after him was only slightly better than having a disease named after him.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Economic Club of Washington, in the nation’s capital, Buffett was asked if he had become a liberal Democrat as he has gotten older. Buffett responded by distancing himself from the label, pointing out that he supports Republicans too.

“Yeah, I’m not a card-carrying Democrat,” he said. “I support some Republicans and actually this year I gave some money to a Republican congressman.”
