(USA Today) — Faced with a bad jobs report, President Obama said today “our economy is still facing some serious headwinds,” but that better times are ahead.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do before we get to where we need to be,”Obama told workers at a Honeywell plant in Minnesota, just hours after the Labor Department reported that the economy created only 69,000 new jobs last month.
Obama stressed the fact that the jobs number has gone up for 27 straight months, creating a total of 4.3 millions jobs in that time. The president also noted that he came into the office at a time when the economy teetered on the edge of another Great Depression.
“From the moment we first took action to prevent another depression, we knew the road to recovery would not be easy,” Obama said. “We knew it would take time, we knew there would be ups and downs along the way.”
