Always comforting for me to think about Auntie Zeituni and how my Mass tax dollars are paying for her house, food, electricity, EBT card, healthcare, entertainment, appliances, travel etc. I couldn’t be happier about subsidizing her lifestyle for decades, even if she is in this country illegally.

Tears of Abuse is a new memoir by Zeituni Onyango exploring the timeless human issue of abuse in all of its forms. This horrific topic raises many societal and moral questions, which explore and place value on a woman’s worth.

The assumed norm of how women are nurtured from girls to womanhood seems uneventful until you take into context the culture of Africa, a strictly enforced religious lifestyle and a remarkable woman who decided to buck tradition and live life to the fullest.

Zeituni tells from her personal experience;

  • The role of an African woman in Luo culture
  • Lineage and why a woman needs male offspring
  • Her relationship with Barack Obama Sr, the
    president’s father and her step brother
  • Teen parenting and bitter divorce consequences
  • Consequences of choices in one’s life and the courage to move beyond them

Read her story and learn about survival, hope, faith, devastating illness and the courage to withstand each hurdle in her path.
