Like the religious freedom he has taken away from the Catholic church?

President Obama declared today, the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death, a national day of prayer for the well-being of the American military and gratitude for religious freedom.

“We give thanks for our democracy that respects the beliefs and protects the religious freedom of all people to pray, worship, or abstain according to the dictates of their conscience,” Obama said in a statement, apparently contrasting the United States with the religious dictatorships in the Middle East.

“Let us also pay tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces who have answered our country’s call to serve with honor in the pursuit of peace,” he added. “Let us pray for the continued strength and safety of our service members and their families.”

Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan today to commemorate the anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden.
