Torture? — Really?

(CNS News) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Michigan has filed a lawsuit in federal court against U.S. authorities, claiming intrusive religious questioning of Muslim American citizens who are trying to reenter the country at the northern border with Canada.

In the lawsuit, one plaintiff claims the prolonged detention and questioning of his Muslim faith at the northern border by U.S. law enforcement constituted “psychological torture.”

On April 13, CAIR filed the lawsuit in a U.S. District Court in Michigan against three federal agencies listed as defendants:  Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the  Transportation Security Administration (TSA), both of which are components of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of Justice’s FBI. Two FBI agents listed as defendants are identified by name: Robert B. Thompson and Jeff Sokolowski.
