Something tells me she wouldn’t be so forgiving if these were Republicans. Of course her forgiveness has nothing to do with the aide’s parents being Dem mega-donors.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Monday that she is sticking by her aide whose controversial “Jewbags” comment on Facebook has caused the Democratic National Committee a headache, calling the staffer “incredibly poised [and] intelligent.”

“She was 20 when she posted that picture,” Wasserman Schultz said of Danielle Gilbert after an event in Sunny Isles, the Miami Herald reports. “I spoke to my own children and gave that unfortunate posting as an example of how, no matter what you think is funny among your friends, nothing on social media is private.”

The Florida congresswoman’s defensive comments came days after reports first surfaced that Gilbert, a DNC staffer who serves as the committee’s Jewish outreach liaison, was pictured in a photo on Facebook in which she referred to herself and others in the picture as “Jewbags.”

Gilbert has since apologized for the postings on the social media outlet, saying she “meant no offense.” DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse defended Gilbert’s role at the committee while also warning that “no smear driven by the right wing noise machine is going to impact her status as a trusted member of this team.”

If this aide is so “incredibly intelligent” then why did she post those pictures on Facebook for the entire world to see?
