Drew,

Today we’re rolling out the official Runway to Win design challenge — and I thought you should be the first to know.

It works like this: Creative folks like you come up with a design — or three — you think should be part of the Runway to Win collection in the Obama store and submit those ideas by May 1st, 2012.

A panel of judges will narrow the field to a group of finalists whose work will be put to a vote by other supporters.

The top items will be added to the Runway to Win collection alongside work by designers like Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, and Tracy Reese — and the winners will receive a fully produced version of their item, signed by Anna Wintour.

By submitting your design, you’re making an important contribution to the campaign. The winning items will not only give folks a fashionable way to show their support for President Obama, they’ll help fund the work of organizers around the country.

Learn more about “Runway to Win: A creative way to support the President” — and pass the site on to anyone you think might be interested.

I’m pretty excited about this, and I’ll tell you why:

This campaign is all about finding new ways to let everyone know you’re behind the President — and I can name more than two dozen American fashion designers who volunteered their time and talent because they feel the same way.

Sound like your kind of thing? Check out our creative brief for more information, then get started:

I can’t wait to see what you come up with,

Josh
