American taxpayers not so lucky.

(USA Today) — The Senate’s top Democrat says he has no problem with the decision by President Obama’s re-election team against giving money to congressional campaign committees.

“They have to guard their money,” Reid said told CNN’s State of the Union.

Reid said he was surprised by the coverage of the decision against contributions to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Referring to a recent meeting that included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Cal., and Obama campaign officials, Reid said: “I didn’t expect them to bring their checkbooks with them.”

Reid said he is confident that Obama and the campaign will help congressional candidates raise their own money and turn out the vote.
