(Journal Star) — A Thursday afternoon protest by Occupy Lincoln at radio station KLIN drew just seven people, but the protesters said their message was heard.
They said comments by radio host Rush Limbaugh toward Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke were misogynistic and a form of hate speech that shouldn’t be tolerated on the radio.
But KLIN (1400 AM) has no plans to drop “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” said John Bishop, program director for the station at 4343 O St.
“I’ve said this quite a few times — and even on the air — that it’s ultimately a free-market decision,” Bishop said. “We have Rush because there’s an audience for it, and we have advertisers who want to advertise on it.”
