What race baiting? They talk about it like it’s a fact.
Well, I think it proves that does well in South Carolina. Going back to the 1980s with Lee Atwater and the “Southern Strategy”, which is really a South Carolina strategy. Gingrich’s racebaiting is really effective with GOP voters. It didn’t work for Bill Clinton, with Hillary Clinton’s campaign, but it does work for GOP voters.
We saw it with 1988, with the Michael Dukakis campaign and the Willie Horton controversey.
We saw it again with the whispers of John McCain having a black baby.
So I think Newt Gingrich is clever in using this strategy of racebaiting in getting more GOP voters.
