Republican candidates and policies created the demand for food stamps, according to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, who attributed much of the recent recession to the lack of Wall Street regulation under Republicans.

“The economic policies that contributed to the great recession were supported by and are being proposed by I believe all the [Republican candidates],” Carney said today¬†during the press briefing, criticizing them for opposing Dodd-Frank regulations. “We look forward to the debate with whomever emerges from the primary process.”
