EUGENE, Ore. (KVAL) — Representatives of Occupy Eugene called on the City Council to allow the camp to remain until the group and the City can agree upon a “long-term, permanent site.”
They also accused the Eugene Police Department of dumping criminals at the camp to cause trouble and playing politics by making public the department’s regular reports to the City Council regarding the Occupy Eugene camp.
A police spokeswoman denied both allegations.
The Eugene City Council meets Monday night to discuss what to do next. The Council had voted to exempt the Occupy Eugene camp at Washington-Jefferson Park until Dec. 15 from the city’s ban on camping in park.
