Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he will not participate in Monday’s Fox News debate, and will instead speak at a conference of the pro-Israel lobby, AIPAC.
The Republican frontrunner was asked on “Fox & Friends” whether he planned to attend the debate in Utah, and said he couldn’t because he made other plans.
“Nobody told me about debates. As you saw I thought the last debate on CNN was the last debate,” Trump said on Wednesday morning.
“I’m doing a major speech in front of a very important group of people that night,” Trump said, adding that it had been “scheduled a while ago.”
An AIPAC source confirmed that Trump would be speaking Monday night.
Kasich chastises Trump’s ‘decision to scuttle the debate’ doesn’t show, says he will not show.
Via Daily Mail:
Monday night’s Republican debate in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been cancelled, according to the local Fox affiliate.
Donald Trump said this morning that ‘we’ve had enough debates’ and planned to skip the next one, which was to be sponsored by Fox News and moderated by his foe Megyn Kelly.
The Republican frontrunner, who won every contest last night except for Ohio, Gov. John Kasich’s home state, instead booked a speech at AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
Kasich, riding high after his home state win last night, said he wouldn’t participate without the party’s frontrunner.
