TEHRAN (FNA) – A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that the recent revolutions and popular uprisings sweeping the region are the results of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution and the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini.
“Today, all the efforts made by the late Imam are yielding fruits one after another. Undoubtedly, popular uprisings in the regional countries, including Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain and Yemen are the results of the (Islamic) Revolution led by the Great Imam Khomeini,” Lieutenant Commander of IRGC Ground Force General Abdollah Araqi told FNA on Monday.
In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.
In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.
Other revolutions later erupted in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests are growing in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and somehow Algeria.
