Biden makes the bizarre claim that Romney said he wanted to “get rid” of the entire Planned Parenthood organization (although that would be sweet), in reality he said he wanted to “get rid” of their taxpayer funding.
SUPERIOR, WIS. — Vice President Joe Biden critiqued Mitt Romney’s plans to “get rid” of Planned Parenthood, telling a crowd here Friday that no president would have the power to eliminate the group.
“He doesn’t understand it’s a private organization! It’s not even his to get rid of,” the vice president said as dusk approached in this town just across Lake Superior from Duluth, Minn.
Planned Parenthood gets about a third of its funding from the federal government, and it would be possible for Romney to work to eliminate that funding, but not the whole organization.
